It was my honor and privilege to meet with The Crown Princess Mary to discuss SEWBOTS in the apparel industry. She had a kind spirit and inquisitive mind and it wasn’t long before we discussed the impact of robots on apparel jobs globally.

From an automation perspective, Denmark is heavily invested in automation with its world renown robotics community in Odense, Denmark featuring companies like Universal Robotics and OnRobot. The government also funds advanced technology programs within diverse sectors like SYLAB that works to apply robotics to the apparel industry.

The Copenhagen Fashion summit was a unique experience and I look forward to going back this year. The event has little in comparison to a manufacturer conference. The demographic is different, the presentations are much more motivationally focused, there are famous models and globally recognized hosts, there is a fair amount of lip service which are obfuscated by complex supply chains… but it is important to get these people in the room and talking about sustainability and providing some basic level of accountability.

Dinner with the speakers. Copenhagen Fashion Summit has a unique experience for speakers. They have hosts who are in some way connected to Fashion throw an intimate dinner party for 10 speakers. I knew none of them to start, but walked away with some great new friends. I sat next to Orsola de Castro, the founder and Creative Director of FashionRevolution.org. Had a great conversation on Sustainability and the role of robotics, all while a Michelin Star chef prepared and served our food right in the family kitchen. Excellent experience.

Preparing postcards to my family back home. We keep all the postcards from the different countries and talk about the art. Really beautiful cards in Copenhagen. I tried to do this later in Billund, a smaller city, and wasn’t so lucky with the selection.
